Brookmans Park WEA 2009/2010 Courses

Details are now available for the four 10 week courses planned for 2009/2010.

As usual, these will be held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings in the United Reformed Church, Brookmans Park. Each session will last 2 hours, with a break for coffee.


Autumn Term 2009

Brave New Genetics
Tuesdays: 10 weeks commencing 29 September 2009:
Tutor: Brenda Harold
   Note this class will be from 10.30 - 12.30
DNA Profiles, GM crops, stem cells, gene tests, designer babies. This course will provide a jargon-free introduction to those who wish to understand the basic principles of this new science. No scientific background is required.

Gardens and Art
Thursdays: 10 weeks commencing 1 October 2009:
Tutor: Katherine Myers

How painting and sculpture have influenced gardens and vice versa, at different periods.

The history of parks from medieval times onwards, examining documentary sources, maps and surviving field evidence.
